Just as if the lady was a virgin the price would shoot up to the sky. In fact I know a lady of very, very modest background, the word around is that she is a virgin and papa is looking for 1 million baht for Sin Sot. <BR/><BR/>I do not agree that someone not paying Sin Sot is disregarding Thai culture. Marriage is not one person buying into a family. When I asked my wife about it, she said that I did not need to pay anything because she had been married before and not lived with her parents for 15 years.<BR/><BR/>It is also sadly true that some families see a daughter marrying a Farang as winning the lottery. I concurr with the points made. The pictures really reminded me of my own wedding and the smiles and laughter that came when my mother in law ceremoniously picked up the sin sot in a cloth and struggled to carry it away due to its "huge weight". I wish I had known more about this custom at the time as I would have put more thought into it and arranged for a larger sin sot with perhaps some being returned to us.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
